The theme of the training and study visit is “New Learnings in a Digital Environment.” Information, the expression of human knowledge, is heralded to be the main tool of this day and age. As such it has become a very dynamic concept. Information professionals (IPs), on the other hand, are not being left behind. With technological changes occurring at a fast pace, IPs must be able to adapt to these changes appropriately. One sure way is to be exposed to the “learning environments” of more technologically-advanced countries like Singapore.

The program consists of visits to state of the art information centers as well as archives, libraries, art galleries, exhibit halls and museums. This will give the participants a balanced view and insights into other information centers and how they operate.

The objectives of the aforementioned activities, as follows:
>to enhance the skills of IPs in their dynamic roles as educators, consultants, facilitators and trainers;
>upgrade the competencies of IPs in addressing clients perception of quality services and its delivery;
>increase awareness/knowledge of document management systems essential for electronic distribution of digital materials;
>and to facilitate the establishment of local librarians with new friends and colleagues to draw up realistic and meaningful programs of cooperation.

The study visit is open for everybody who wants to have an opportunity to learn and upgrade their personal and professional competencies. The training and study visit fee is US$618.00 inclusive of round-trip airfare and airline taxes, hotel accommodation with daily breakfast, local transportation, city tours, kit, certificate of participation and attendance. Package exclusions are Philippine Travel Tax (P1,620.00) and Terminal Fee (P750.00).
