It is true that Filipinos are one of the most literate in Asia, but we are far behind when it comes to having a regular reading habit. Most of us view reading as a chore -- but reading can be pleasurable and will open doors for us and for our children. Reading enhances comprehension, imagination and creativity. This lecture is aimed towards school librarians to help them bring in more students to their library, towards teachers to help students maintain a habit for reading not just for academics, but also for pleasure, and for parents to help them view their role in helping their children develop this habit beyond the school.

Ms. Edes Vijandre of Head Librarian Miriam College Grade School Library
