We don't buy fireworks for New Year anymore, we just enjoy the fireworks that the many Chinese in my hometown fire up for the new year. Every year, the celebration becomes shorter and shorter. By 12:30am, it's already very quiet, unlike when we were kids where the blasts would last until 1 to 2 am. In our street too there's been less and less firecrackers. It's a good thing.
